About this course
The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Information Technology (IT) is a vocational high school completion programme designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed for a career in the IT industry. This 12 month programme covers a wide range of IT-related topics, including computer hardware and software, programming and digital media.
In addition to technical skills, the programme also focuses on developing key employability skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking and teamwork. These skills are highly valued by employers and will be beneficial for students as they progress in their careers.
Course outline
- IT User Fundamentals: This unit provides an introduction to IT systems and software, including computer hardware and operating systems and the use of common software applications.
- Programming Fundamentals: This unit covers the basics of programming, including data types, variables and control structures.
- IT Systems Security: Students will learn about the importance of IT systems security and the measures that can be taken to protect them.
Throughout the programme, students will be required to complete assignments, projects and assessments that will help them to develop their knowledge and skills. They will also have opportunities to apply what they have learned in real-world settings through work experience placements or enterprise projects. Upon completion of this programme, students will have the skills and knowledge to move on to further study in IT or to enter the workforce in a variety of IT-related roles.
